Welcome to The Great Skate!

I am a QAS Paramedic, Q Health Nurse and QUT academic researching ambulance-based palliative care. I am also a roller skater, and thought why not combine these two passions to fundraise for the terminally ill? 

How does it work?

Over 7 days (September 22nd - 29th, 2024)  I will wear my roller skates non-stop.  I will only take them off to shower and to sleep. During this time, everywhere I go, I must have my trusty skates tied to me, literally.

Want to get involved or donate?

Step 1) Pick a task for me to complete during September 22nd - 29th while wearing skates.  
Step 2) Donate an amount of money to Ambulance Wish that you feel is equal to the task.  As a rough guide, 30 minutes during The Great Skate is worth $20. 
Step 3) Wait for your task to be assessed and allocated a time slot.
Step 4) Watch and be amused as I try to complete your task!

Stuck for ideas?

Any task will be considered and if I don't approve it (for reasons outlined below) I will do my best to negotiate.  Here's a list of some tasks that I'd accept with an example of a fair donation:
- Learn a specific dance for $60 (90 mins for a clunky performance)
- Complete 10 laps of the Crit Track in Nundah (Brisbane) for $100 ($10 a lap seems fair, right?)
- Roll into a mechanic's workshop and ask for a wheel alignment for $20 (time for travel, speech rehearsal, dutch courage, etc.)
- Do a flip at a skate park for $??? ( I don't enjoy being upside-down, but for the right price anything is possible...)

Amused, confused and concerned? 

I am too. Please be reassured I have skating insurance, will wear suitable protective gear and will not complete any task that is either offensive or could place me or the community in danger.
